Dr. Matthias Fischer has been Professor of Banking & Finance in the Faculty of Business Administration at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm since 2001.

His research interests include M & A, capital market analysis, strategic bank management and financial services on the Internet. After receiving his doctorate, he joined Dresdner Bank AG in 1996. As Head of Strategy and Planning for European Corporate Banking, he was responsible for topics such as European strategy, M & A as well as planning, execution and post merger integration in mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Dr. Matthias Fischer has been Adjunct Professor at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis since 2008 in the Master and DBA program of the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis.

He is a reviewer at the DBA Program University of Shanghai and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Associate Member of GRM Group de Recherche en Management at I.A.E. Institute d’Administration d’Entreprises.

Previous guest lecturerships Fishermen at universities in San Francisco, Miami, Bristol and Nancy. Other functions have Dr. Fischer as Co-Head of Competence Center Finance of the TH Nuremberg, Member of the Editorial Board of the Financial Services Management series.

Dr. Fischer has been advising German and European banks on the topics of strategy, value management, M & A, Robo Advisory, fintech, and digital banking for many years.
